The URI is pleased to welcome Arts Work Experience student, Mpoe Mogale, to the URI team!
Mpoe is our new Program Assistant, taking over for our previous URI Intern, Tony Luong. (Tony is off to do wonderful things in graduate school, and we wish him well!) Mpoe will be providing program support and organizing the FURCA 2018. We are very excited to have Mpoe on board, and invite you to stop by and say hello!

Hello! My name is Mpoe (they/them) and I am the new URI Program Assistant. In this role I will be supporting ongoing programs and services offered by URI. I am most especially looking forward to planning FURCA, and continuing the amazing work my predecessor Tony began on highlighting non-traditional ways of research. One area of focus this year will be showcasing the outstanding work that is conducted by undergraduate students from marginalized communities, as well as continuing to raise the platform for various disciplines to showcase their research.
I am currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Political Science with a minor in International Studies, along with six certificates. My research interests currently include (but are not limited to) Blackness and the Arts; in particular, understanding how Blackness is consistently erased from the Arts. I am an executive member of three student groups and sit on several councils at the U of A and in the greater Edmonton community. Between all of this you will find me either prancing around in dance studios or on my couch taking a 30mins-turned-3 hours nap.
